Oriental’s Town Board meets Thursday, Jun 26 @ 9a at Town Hall for the postponed budget meeting.

At the June 9 regular monthly Town Board Meeting, Commissioners opened, and then continued the budget hearing without a vote until the end of the month, pending ongoing budget legislation in the General Assembly. Part of that legislation has passed. Commissioners will have three possible versions of the budget to pass:

1. set the tax rate at $.16/$100, down from $.22/$100 on the NEW valuation;
2. set the tax rate at $.23/$100 up from $.22 on the OLD valuation;
3. An interim budget to get through Sept 2026, relying solely on fund balance

Additional business:
• a CAMA permit by Point Pride Seafood to erect a 600’ × 8’ dock parallel to the jetty protecting Oriental’s harbor, and to dredge 400’ along that dock
• appoint new volunteer board members
