The heat index means more than just how hot it is. It’s heat, plus humidity, for how hot it feels.

The National Weather Services issues heat advisories along with common sense precautions like: stay out of the sun, wear light clothing, stay hydrated, get animals and young children out of the heat, stay in air conditioning or shade, and know the signs of heat illness – like heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

They’re part of the Duke-Pamlico Partnership for Health and they work closely with non-profits like Hope Clinic, HeartWorks, and the Pamlico County Disaster Recovery Coalition.

The bill has been referred to Committee, where it may be advanced, rejected, or left to die if not scheduled for a hearing.
